Our Experience
The Corporate Measurement & Evaluation Community of Practice (CoP) is a free, open, and welcoming community for those that have responsibility for social impact measurement within businesses, including corporate foundations, as part of their corporate social responsibility efforts. The CoP meets virtually every quarter to share common experiences and concerns, learn from industry professionals, and improve our individual and collective effectiveness. Between meetings, we share resources and connect with each other one on one to support or take advantage of partnership opportunities.
In 2019, TCC Group partnered with Johnson & Johnson to conduct a benchmarking study of Corporate Social Responsibility Measurement and Evaluation (M&E) practices within companies, which highlighted a gap in professional exchange opportunities. In response, we established a Community of Practice (CoP) to serve as a dedicated learning community for M&E professionals within the corporate giving sector, managed by TCC Group’s Director of Evaluation and Learning Jared Raynor and Associate Director Lisa Frantzen, and Morgan Buras-Finlay from Raya Cooper Impact Consulting.
Whether in corporate foundations or corporate social responsibility (CSR) departments, there are various places where CSR professionals can get training and support, but monitoring and evaluation is only occasionally a topic, often covered at a fairly high level with little room to discuss the nuances of dealing with the topic in daily practice. As a result, individuals with M&E responsibility are often left to forge their own path, feeling like they are recreating the wheel or wondering if they are adhering to best practices.
The CoP currently has around 50 participating companies, ranging from large Fortune 500 companies to small and mid-sized companies. While the bulk of the members have a corporate presence in the United States, participants join from around the world.
Our ongoing commitment to understanding social impact has led us to conduct a comprehensive survey of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practitioners across global companies.
Stay tuned for our upcoming in-depth report that captures the current landscape of social impact measurement and evaluation, highlighting emerging trends, critical challenges, and innovative best practices in the field.
